KUCHING, Thurs: The Premier, Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Johari Tun Abang Haji Openg on Wednesday night officially launched InvestSarawak as an investment enhancement wing of the Sarawak government during a ceremony held at a local hotel, here.
The launching of the recently established investment outfit coincided with the networking dinner held in honour of visiting delegates of EU countries led by the EU Ambassador to Malaysia, Michalis Rokas.
InvestSarawak is a one-stop centre established to transform the investment landscape, trade and talent attraction within the region under the purview of the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment Sarawak (MINTRED), according to the Unit’s website.
Headed by CEO, Timothy Ong Wye Ern, its primary objectives are to enhance the ease of doing business, offering support to businesses in dealing with local government regulations.
It also facilitates connections between foreign investors and emerging investment opportunities and partners in Sarawak underscoring the Sarawak Government’s commitment to fostering a favourable investment climate supported by investor-friendly policies.
Also present were Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hassan who is also the Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment, Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Minister for Utilities and Telecommunications, Dato Sri Haji Julaihi bin Narawi, State Secretary, Datuk Amar Haji Mohd Abu Bakar bin Marzuki and deputy ministers.
